Visitors to this site who live in or will be visiting West Cumbria may be interested to know how the water you are drinking is fluoridated.
The material used by United Utilities to fluoridate the local water is hexafluorosilic acid. This is not the natural fluoride that many health professionals state that they are "adjusting to optimum levels" when they artificially fluoridate.
The hexafluorosilic acid used by United Utilities is sourced from a Norwegian company. It is a waste by-product of the production of fertiliser. Consequently the fluoride introduced into the water at Ennerdale Water and Crummock Water also contains:
Natural fluoride, which is a completely different composition to this material, is considered too expensive.
Approximately 50% of the fluoride taken in each day is deposited in the skeleton and remains there for life. High, long term accumulation can cause the bones to deteriorate.
It is essential to know how much fluoride is being taken in on a daily basis. The Department of Health has never tested or established how much people living in fluoridated areas are ingesting or accumulating.
